Hi, I’m Marisa!
And I created this page because I’m passionate about doing education differently. I started my journey as an educator after graduating with three degrees: English, Education & Creative Writing and not knowing which avenue to focus on the most (a “problem” that’s guided me down the path of non-traditional services—so, in essence, a blessing in disguise!). I then went on to teach in public, private, and Special Education classrooms as a part-time teacher, Assistant Director, and consultant (while running my tutoring business on the side), until I decided to launch my microschool program in 2020.
The microschool was born of my love for my son, and my desire to support him during a time when there really weren’t any other options. As a bonus mom (not a biological mom, but a *bonus* parental figure in my son’s life), I wanted to create resources for him (and other students) who might not fit the ‘mold’ of traditional education. . . & thus, my homeschooling journey began!
This website is meant to be a resource—not only for homeschooling families, but those who want to learn how to pursue an approach that goes against the norm. Welcome, I’m so happy you’re here!
